Corporate Employee Survey

Survey Purpose

Recent developments in the state legislature, initiated by a competitor and related to competition between public and private entities, have forced [company name] to defend its ability to offer communications services while remaining a county-owned business.  Part of that process involves documenting the negative consequences that would result from legislative action against [company name] forcing its sale to a private competitor.  This survey is needed to gather economic data which is currently unavailable in the UCED data set, and which is necessary to determine fully the negative economic impacts to [the local community] that would result from a change in the ownership of [company name].  The survey will be administered entirely by the University of Nevada, Reno Center for Economic Development (UCED).

Questionnaire Content

We will be asking you for information related to personal expenditures, investments and volunteer contributions.  We are interested in the many ways in which the income that you earn at [company name] benefits individuals and businesses in [the local community], as well as time that you may contribute directly through volunteerism.  When you receive the questionnaire, you will also receive a detailed explanation of each question as well as instructions for completing the questionnaire.

Questionnaire Format

Questionnaires will be delivered to [company name] employees in sealed, unmarked envelopes.  The questionnaire inside the envelope will be marked with an access code, which may be used to access the web survey if you choose to complete it instead of the paper survey.  You will have the opportunity to choose one of two methods to participate in the survey.

1. Complete the paper questionnaire and return it by mail to UCED, or
2. Complete the web survey questionnaire which will be posted on this site.

The web survey may completed from any computer with access to the Internet, including but not limited to computers in the workplace.  It will be designed to allow for partial completion so that respondents may work on it a little bit at a time.  Our database will remember your previous responses and will allow you to update the questionnaire until it is ready to be submitted as complete.  We encourage you to give the web version a try.  It will be designed to be relatively quick and easy, and its use will help us in the timely completion of our economic impact report.

Time for Completion

There will be at least 2-3 weeks in which to complete the survey.

Anonymity

All responses are anonymous - we will not ask any questions that could be used to identify a survey respondent.

Confidentiality

All data gathered will be confidential, and will remain the property of the Center for Economic Development.  The report that UCED will deliver to [company name] will contain statistics and conclusions drawn from the data, and will not contain any of the data itself.
